Family-Run Bakery, La Farine, opens at 2394 Broadway
La Farine Pâtisserie et Café opens at 2394 Broadway. Founded by Jonathan and Rica Hengal, La Farine is a family-run bakery on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
2394 Broadway, between 87th and 88th Streets, was previously occupied by Starbucks. The retail space sits at the base of a 26 story, 156 unit building built in 1984. The retail space consists of 1,616 square feet on the ground floor with an 833 square foot mezzanine. The asking rent for the space was $30,000 per month.
La Farine believes in the power of community and aims to be a neighborhood spot for families and friends to gather and share special moments.
Originally from Israel, Hengal moved to New York ten years ago, where he met his future wife, Rica, a baker from Morocco. “We’ve been living on the Upper West Side for ten years, so we’re very familiar with the area, and our two kids go to school nearby,” said Hengal when asked about their choice of location. He believes the Upper West Side will appreciate what his family brings to the table: a bakery that offers fresh baguettes and sourdough bread, as well as croissants, sandwiches, salads and soups.
